Altair Strengthens Global Leadership with Appointment of Ian Carter as Chief Commercial Officer and Steve Davidson in the United States

Altair, the independent provider of governance, consultancy, and technology solutions to the funds and financial services industry, today announced the appointments of Ian Carter as Chief Commercial Officer and Steve Davidson as Head of the Americas, marking a significant step in the firm’s continued growth.
Ian Carter joins Altair as Chief Commercial Officer, bringing a diverse and international career spanning financial services, technology, and engineering. He has held senior roles at a leading international bank across Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia, before moving into the fintech and alternative investment space.
Since 2020, Ian has worked at the intersection of finance and technology, initially at a technology incubation and alternative investment firm, where he led initiatives across strategy, product development, and investment due diligence. Most recently, he served as Chief Operating Officer of an FCA-regulated fintech.
Ian’s expertise spans business development, corporate finance and funding, international cash management, risk management, and business transformation. He began his career as an engineer, working on large-scale infrastructure projects, and brings a uniquely multidisciplinary perspective to Altair’s commercial strategy. He is a Fellow of the Association of Corporate Treasurers and a member of the Jersey branch of the Institute of Directors.
Steve Davidson brings more than 20 years of experience across financial management, operations, and technology within the alternative investment and wealth advisory sectors. He spent the past 15 years as Chief Operating Officer of an investment and wealth advisory firm with significant investments in alternative fund structures.
Earlier in his career, Steve served as Chief Financial Officer of a private equity firm and held senior roles in private equity fund administration. He began his professional career in public accounting, working as an audit manager in both New York and Tokyo. Steve also brings extensive governance experience, having served as a director on Cayman and U.S. structures.
