The BWCI mini's football festival in its 15th year and recognised as one of the highlights of the mini's football calendar across the Channel Islands was staged on the weekend of 22-23 July 2017. Altair sponsored two teams from Vale Rec, Guernsey. Each competitor was given a shirt and a bag to use during the tournament along with refreshments throughout the two days of competition.
All local and Jersey based teams played against some professional clubs, including Everton, Southampton and Bristol City. Both teams recorded wins and matches against local opposition were very close. Entering a second team allowed the club to give those players 'the experience' of competitive tournament play along with facing premier league opposition.
Both teams trained extremely hard leading up to the tournament putting in another 11 weeks additional training since the season ended at the end of April. Altair was delighted to support the club and allow players to have the best possible support whilst they focused on the football.
Overall winners were Everton for the 10th time who scored a late goal in the final against Southampton to take the main prize.
